Milestones (Projections)
- August 2008 – Salter Pilon Architecture of Barrie, Ontario hired as primary consultant on project
- February 2009 – Government of Canada and Government of Ontario announce financial support of the BWG Leisure Centre in the amount of $16.4 M.
- March 2009 – Schematic Design Approved at Town Council
- June 2009 – Tender for Location Site Works prepared
- September 2009 – Groundbreaking on site works to commence
- March 2010 – Tender for facility construction awarded/construction commences
- January 2012 – Facility opening projected
Facility Features
- 2 NHL sized ice rinks – one with seating for 900, one with seating for 350
- 8 lane 25 m competition/fitness ready swimming pool
- Leisure pool with slide
- Relaxation/therapy warm temperature pool
- Fully furnished fitness centre with strength training, aerobic studio, cardio machines, walking track
- Gymnasium
- Program and meeting rooms
- Pro shop and snack bar concession
