Fire & Emergency Services
The Fire and Emergency Services has greatly evolved from its traditional functions of fire suppression and fire prevention.
In addition to fire calls, the Fire Suppression unit responds to alarms for auto extrication and rescue, technical rope and confined space rescue, medical or ambulance support, hazardous material responses, as well as assistance during times of natural disasters.
The Fire Prevention Officer enforces the Ontario Fire Code for all occupied buildings falling under our jurisdiction, such as apartments, care facilities, commercial and industrial sites. With passage of the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, fire prevention and public education have gained an even higher profile within Ontario's Fire Service and handles all training and staff development needs within the BWG Fire and Emergency Services.
